Blockchain Lab Lead @ Smart Payments
For over four decades, Nets has provided the backbone infrastructure for digital payments in the Nordics, and the company still strives to develop and deliver stable and secure digital payment solutions that make a difference in people’s everyday lives. To accomplish this, Nets has established Smart Payments which facilitates horizontal collaboration between teams of students, tech-savvy and UX experts along with senior commercial profiles, to come up with innovative ideas to shape the future products for Nets. Working in that environment provides an excellent opportunity for me to shape my career by developing meaningful solutions that make a difference in society.
Smart Payments is part of Nets Group – it’s a place to learn, explore, experiment and build concepts as well as build a career at Nets within emerging technologies such as Blockchain, Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality and so on. In Smart Payments, we have tech “toys” that our tech-savvy people work with and enjoy spending time on. Smart Payments is where you may play with the technologies as they are being developed. Smart Payments is the perfect place for students with an ambition to try out something brand new and build solutions that will be indispensable to future generations.
Blockchain is one of the key emerging technology, which has led Nets to decide to explore and build production grade solutions in Blockchain. To make that journey possible, we have established a Blockchain Technical Lab, which I’m currently heading, in collaboration with great colleagues from Nets and customers. It’s hard to define a typical day at work, but besides regular activities, I spend most of my time researching, experimenting and learning new stuff about Blockchain. So, no two days are alike.
It’s quite interesting to see how an idea is being developed from an early stage through concept to eventually shaping into a potential product. Working with new ideas exercises your creativity and sharpens your development skills. An important component of my working life is understanding the commercial aspects of use cases - understanding customer needs and their vision is very important to be able to create an environment that encourages co-innovation with our customers.
Technology has been my passion ever since childhood, so when it was time to select a bachelor’s degree programme, I went for Computer Applications without hesitation. My Bachelor’s degree prepared me for doing a Master’s in Internet and Software Technology at the IT University of Copenhagen. Software development was the primary focus of the programme, and in addition I elected modules focusing on aspects of building commercial business solutions.
