Meet Shakil Ahmad, .NET developer at Nets. Shakil has been with Nets for about 1 ½ year and works on unlocking new and better opportunities for merchants by turning a complex reality into easy, intuitive and customer-oriented solutions.

What made you choose to work at Nets?

I found Nets an interesting company delivering innovative solutions that touches people’s everyday lives across the Nordic. At Nets I saw the opportunity to focus on solutions targeted tomorrow’s business needs developed within market leading frameworks and technologies. The focus on secure, available and user-friendly solutions gives me varied and challenging tasks now and in future, which is key for me when looking at where to pursue a career.

What are you working on right now?

I am working in the eCommerce team, a newly assembled and highly qualified team continuously developing our eCommerce platform. My key tasks are related to Nets’ new payment solution, Easy which gives merchants all they need to receive online payment. My focus is on developing an intuitive an easy accessible user interface for this solution, giving merchant and consumers a great customer experience.

What inspires you in your job?

Using edge Microsoft technologies such as .Net Core, Azure Service Fabric and Docker Containers as well as well-known patterns such as CQRS and event sourcing to develop solutions for the future is highly motivating for me and crucial to my ongoing professional development. The fact that security is deeply embedded in all our solutions is also very inspiring to me. It also motivates me to have a say in the projects I participate in, contributing with my competencies and advice on how to build the right solutions addressing both merchants’ and consumers’ needs. Furthermore, great and inclusive leaders in a transparent organisation focusing on information sharing makes both my day and my job inspiring.

How do you see your career opportunities within Nets?

At Nets, I see an opportunity to choose different career directions. I experience a willingness to invest in developing the ones with the potential and the wish to develop. And not only within your current area of expertise. If you want to pursue another career path, e.g. becoming a manager or switching to another technology than the one you are specialised in today, it is possible to do so in a large organisation as Nets.
