Footers serve site visitors who arrive at the bottom of a page without finding what they want.
Footers
Guidelines
Your footer should be structured should pointing towards popular content that could answer your user’s remaining questions, prioritizing their most frequent needs.
When creating your footer, keep in mind the guidelines below:
- Include newsletter sign-up in the footer, if gaining newsletter subscriptions is your website’s goal.
- Include social media links in the footer, but try to only include those accounts that are frequently updated, or are in use for client communication.
- Use descriptive, recognizable link labels. Don’t label links with jargon or unfamiliar terms.
- Link grouping in the footer must not necessarily be the same as link grouping in the header. You can pick and choose your footer links to best suit your purpose, especially considering that the header offers way more links than a footer can.
